OPEN DAY 21st November 2015

HOMEMADE TOFFEE APPLES RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

4 apples

400g sugar

1 tsp vinegar

1 mug of hot water (100 ml.)

1 spoon of red food colour

4 forks or 4 lolly sticks

METHOD:

  1. Wash the apples. Put them in a bowl with some cold water, wash them very well and then dry them.
  2. Twist off any stalks. Take a fork or a lolly stick and push it into the stalk end.
  3. Make the toffee. Put the sugar and the hot water into a pan and cook for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes it should be a light brown colour. Add the vinegar and stir (pronunciation: /stɜː(r)/) for another minute. Drop a bit of toffee into a bowl with some cold water. If it hardens, then it is ready. If it is still squishy, then cook for another minute.
  4. Add the food colour and stir.
  5. Dip and twist each apple in the hot toffee until covered, let any excess drip away, then place on the baking paper to harden.
  6. Leave the toffee to cool before eating.
