HOMEMADE TOFFEE APPLESÂ RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
4 apples
400g sugar
1 tsp vinegar
1 mug of hot water (100 ml.)
1 spoon of red food colour
4 forks or 4 lolly sticks
METHOD:
- Wash the apples. Put them in a bowl with some cold water, wash them very well and then dry them.
- Twist off any stalks. Take a fork or a lolly stick and push it into the stalk end.
- Make the toffee. Put the sugar and the hot water into a pan and cook for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes it should be a light brown colour. Add the vinegar and stir (pronunciation: /stÉË(r)/) for another minute. Drop a bit of toffee into a bowl with some cold water. If it hardens, then it is ready. If it is still squishy, then cook for another minute.
- Add the food colour and stir.
- Dip and twist each apple in the hot toffee until covered, let any excess drip away, then place on the baking paper to harden.
- Leave the toffee to cool before eating.
